Summer Sunday Schedule |
Change is rarely easy. The Worship Team has
prayerfully considered changing the time for the Faith
Alive and Traditional Services for quite a while. Our
congregation has worked its way through some significant
changes over the past few years. While studies have
indicated that a later time for Contemporary Services
have shown the most growth, implementing this change
when the Contemporary Service was created felt like too
much change at the time.
There are other factors that the Worship Team
considered. We want to encourage youth participation in
our services. Contemporary service appeals to youth, the
9:00 am time does not. In addition, many choir members
would like to attend the full hour of Sunday School or
teach a Sunday School class. However, they need at least
30 minutes prior to the service to prepare for choir,
cutting their Sunday School time short.
Informal conversations between members of the
congregation and the Worship Team indicated that many
Traditional Service attendees would like an earlier time
for this service. The timing of this change now feels
appropriate to us.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey
regarding our worship services. The Worship Team always
appreciates your feedback. The feedback indicated that
over 75% of you support the time change. Time and style
of worship were equally important to those who
responded. Preferred time of worship was equally split
between the 9:00 am and 11:00 am services. However, we
had many responses requesting either a Saturday service
or an earlier time on Sunday to allow for more time for
Sunday School.
It is important to remember that changing the time of
the services is not so much about US as it is about HIM.
(I’m paraphrasing from a response on one of the
surveys). We pray that the Holy Spirit will move you to
embrace our services at Faith Christian Church.
