Bio:

Life has a way of unfolding unexpected paths before a person, and that has been so true for both Lisa and Adam Sherman!  Their life is an example of how God can take the heartbreak of yesterday and turn it into joy for today!  One of these deeply felt pains was the heartbreak of infertility and miscarriages.  From the tears of this path, God opened incredible doors for them and they are now the proud parents of five beautiful children!  From the start of their marriage, God had placed upon them a calling for the heartbroken and invisible members within our society. It has been this calling that continues to drive their ministry today. Their family has the honor of serving as Advocates for Children with Special Needs and their families.

Lisa obtained her BFA from Stephens College in Theatrical Arts and then attended Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary for her Masters of Divinity, concentrating on Worship Studies. Lisa is currently a Doctoral Candidate with Sioux Falls Seminary with a  focus on The Theology of Suffering and Disability.  She has served as Pastor throughout the Kansas and Nebraska area and was a Chaplain for the Missouri Department of Corrections, specializing in areas of addiction recovery.

Adam attended the University of Nebraska and is currently earning his degree in Mortuary Science as well as finishing his requirements in order to become a Commissioned Minister with the Disciples of Christ (Christian) Denomination. Their oldest son, Skyler, is a Junior, and is currently working towards his Mortuary Science degree.  Jacquelyn, Gabriel, Noah, and Isaiah all are gifted in unique ways and most of the time, enjoy school...and music, and running, and bug hunting, and climbing, and did we already mention music!?!?!

Lisa and Adam have been married for roughly fifteen years, and enjoy each day together with their children waiting to see what God unfolds next within their lives! Their family has a unique testimony, filled with the ashes of this world.  For this reason, Isaiah 61:3 is very dear to them; "to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He might be glorified".

Their family speaks very open and honestly regarding the complexities of life with disabilities, the consequences of abandonment, and the ramifications of addiction.  However, their greatest passion is in telling people what God has done with all these ashes within their own lives!  We serve a God that specializes in taking the ashes of this broken world and transforming them into incredible works of beauty and wonder! For Lisa and Adam, they have the amazing JOY of watching these five incredible works of beauty grow and explore around them every day!

Lisa and Adam are so excited to have joined the family of Faith Christian Church and partnering with them for the goal of impacting the lives of others for the glorification of Jesus Christ!
